Christmas Tree Time

This past week, Eric and I finally found some time to go get ourselves a Christmas tree.
Myself, I'm used to trees from my grandparents backyard/farm or the Christmas tree farm. We usually get beautiful trees. Eric's parents have a fake tree.

So, Eric being the adventurer he is decided we should go cut one down.
According to the Forest Ministry in Prince George, you can download this permit and cut down a tree on crown land, usually along highways and power lines. So that's what we did.
We found an area. Found a tree. And cut it down. It was pretty massively tall.
Eric with our puppies and the tree, and maybe a saw
Once we got the tree into the garage, Eric cut a good two feet off and we hauled it upstairs.
Apparently that wasn't enough, so the tree had to be shortened. A task dreaded by my husband.
It's not like we don't have a vacumn and can't vacumn up everything.

then the tree was up and in place. For some reason there are no pictures of it up. I'll guess that'll have to wait. I decorated the tree a few days later... more on that :)

Thankful Thanksgiving

It's Canadian Thanksgiving, eh!

Unfortunately, Thanksgiving is now coming to an end. And after three wonderfully amazing turkey dinners, I think it's time I finally consider what I am thankful for.

First, I am extraordinarily thankful that I had the opportunity to attend and eat so much Turkey.
I am thankful for my friend Emily and her annual 'misfit' thanksgiving.
I am thankful for my inlaws and their family thanksgiving, including the grandparents this year.
I am thankful to be able to host a thanksgiving dinner at my house with all the fixings! (I'm grateful to have left overs all week long)

Second, I am thankful for my husband.
He is ever so patient and enduring with me.
I am appreciative of his care and concern, and ability to work with me with my vulvodynia.

Third, I am thankful for my puppies.
I still can't believe my husband said yes to buying Caper.
I still can't believe we brought home Miss. Daisy.
I am so grateful for their unconditional love and companionship.

Fourth, I am thankful for my friends in Prince George.
I am grateful to have my sorority sisters and work colleagues who are always there for a good laugh and some girly chitter chatter!

Me and my 3 sorority sisters and work collegue Kelsey

Fifth, I am grateful for my days off.
Now, as a manager, having been low on staff and management, I am very appreciative to have the opportunity to have a full day off to cook and clean, and to prep for friends. There was something relaxing and fun about that.

Wedding Mondays - Grooms Accessories

I have dropped off my puppies at the boarders house. They are having a sleepover since I'll be gone all day tomorrow until 8 to go to my medical orientation in Vancouver. I miss them so much. I kinda want to cry. I'm never having kids, I don't think I could let go!

Anyways, today is Monday! So let's talk great things from my wedding! Today is all about my husband's amazing accessories! It's gonna be short.

Eric is a conductor for CN Rail who has a a love affair with watches and this has recently grown to include pocket watches. He'll spend hours on the Internet looking at watches. We don't have a good watch maker in town so he gets frustrated easily, but he manages.

The pocket watch at our wedding he ordered off of Ebay. He had to buy a chain for it. And one day it stopped working, apparently the springs just do that. So we took it to the jewellers to get repaired. They sent it to Vancouver and it came back. It arrived and the glass face broke. So they had to send it back to  Vancouver to get the face repaired. Finally arrived and all was good just in time for the wedding.

I bought Eric some cuff links for his shirt! I felt it was necessary. They ended up being a Valentines gift due to excitement and our inability to keep gifts from each other! Loved them. Bough them from Noble Studios LTD

Blog Updates! Whoot!

We updated the header! And I use 'we' because, while I started the project, the project was soon taken over by my Dear Hubby who decided that he was better at this type of stuff.

I did some googling and discovered some tutorials and some hints and tips and finally downloaded the free photoshopping type software called Gimp.

Ultimately, I learn best by playing with stuff! So, I just fiddled around while DH got irritated and frustrated that I wasn't accomplishing anything and then when I came home from my appt/work (who knows) I found it almost finished! SAY WHAT! ERIC.

Anyways, not going to complain, but with that said, I still don't really know how to use Gimp. We also decided I needed a new title, and blog titles are hard to think of when you feel under pressure. We threw some ideas around and my surprisingly uncreative husband came up with some horrible ones that are not the current title....le sigh.

It is what it is! Enjoy!

A Quick Update on Eric's Projects

Eric is my dear husband, and like myself he has his own set of projects. Unlike my projects, his projects are usually centered around tools (especially power tools) and making a really really big mess (aside from me, who only makes a big mess).

So, let's review what he's done in the house! Keep in mind, it has been over a month we've been in the house!

1. Our very first project was putting in a shower curtain rod in the bathroom since the house didn't even come with a shower curtain rod! (previous owner was kind of a very cheap person) So before we even got started we needed a rod, and Eric and I splurged and bought one that is built into the wall and one with a curve! Yay more Space! We put a matching one downstairs too.

2. Sound Insulating the 'Basement Suite.' Because the basement suite is on the ground floor and it was kinda noisy before, now it's not! Yay! Eric made such a mess and it took only 6 packages of that stuff (in which only one ended up smelling like rotten fish and we had to return)

What does he think he's gotten himself into!

It didn't take long for him to learn that this project needed a face mask!

It required Eric having to take down all of the stupid tiles and then put them up again. It took much begging for Eric not to replace the tiles. (like seriously, it's just our suite, how rich does he think we are!)

3.  Eric helped me take down all of the kitchen cabinet doors! I don't know if this counts as one of his projects, but he took the task over from me and just went to town using all of his tools!

4. Installing the Dishwasher! This was one of our next big tasks! Well, Eric's projects. We replaced our new appliances and because our new fridge was too big for the 'fridge spot' we had a hole, a perfect spot to build in a dishwasher! And I wanted a dishwasher! Life is now simple and easy.

Step one of this project involved Eric spending some time under the sink putting together the plumbing. This took forever!!!!!!! the plastic and the copper and the .... Eric took 5 trips to Home Depot that glorious weekend!

Step two involved some electrical which went undocumented. This step would be later undone when Eric and his brother decided to wire it in (where the old garbarater was) instead of plug it in. The plug was later moved upwards where it is now accessible above cabinet.

huh, how are we going to do this!

This is where it's going.

and push!
Step three required some help from Eric's dad in building the case to fit the dishwasher. The case they built was too small. Remember the measure too many times and cut once! He did manage to fit it in! And it's quite like mouse!

Look what I found under the sink!

5.  Replacing and fixing all of the light switches and outlets. I don't have a before pictures but they were those stupid yellow ones with the little flick thing. Eric hated them, and after painting he bought some new decor ones and changed all the ones in the house. He even fliped all of the outlets so that they look like mickey mouses and you can easily plug stuff in!

 6. Project 6 is incomplete. He's adding a new fan in the bathroom. There was never one, and Eric fears the winter in that bathroom. Here is a shot of the bathroom.
 7. While doing project 6 we decided to replace the horrible yellow gold light fixture with something more modern!

So not that quick!
