Black and White Sunday

I disappeared again. Getting into the rhythm of working life and going full force on my home renovations. More to come, but let's keep it simple with black and white sunday.

Puppies got haircuts, so some super cute frumpy pictures
before the new slimmer summer look comes in.

Traveling with Puppies, Part 1

I love my puppies.
And for that, they are with me on my visit of my fam-jam in the big old city of Vancouver
I love it here, it is so unbelievably gorgeous. I'd love to live here...

When traveling with puppies, it's very much like traveling with babies.
Or at least my dogs are.
And with such, I have a running tally with my sister-in law
Current Score Furbabies 1: Babies 1.

Why the tie?
Wins
Furbabies 1 : Furbabies you can leave unaccompanied  or in the company of basically anyone (no skills needed here). However, this is narrowly defined in a home. I can abandon them at my moms, my dads and anyone else's' who will let me. I can't abandon them in a hotel room, unfortunately.

Babies 1 : Babies you can take with you in places, such as the bathroom,
the restaurant, the mall, etcetra.
On my way to Chilliwack today, I wish I could stop and go shopping, but I can't because then I'd have to leave furbabies alone in the car... not always the best idea!

Ties:
Both Furbabies and babies require a LOT of stuff.
My puppies have a big box of dehydrated food (very much like formula)
A big tote of toys.
A playpen-kennel.
One Bed, two blankets, and a pillow... the list goes on.
My furbabies don't sleep through the night. They require the use of the bathroom in the middle, or at 6:30 - which totally sucks, this comes from them having free access to a dog door.

My furbabies cry when they aren't happy - like last night when I forced Caper to sleep in the play-pen with Daisy instead of allowing him to cuddle with me.

Stay Posted.  I'm traveling/in Vancouver for the next week.

Sleeping in the back seat. As long as they don't need to go to the bathroom, this is what they do once we hit highway speeds. Slower speeds, they beging to wake up and start taking interest in the world
Driving through rush hour traffic in Surrey with the window down. Going no faster than 40km/hour,
Daisy  loved this experience. Caper joined in for a little fun.
BIG ROAD TRIP DONE! I'M FREE!
At the end of the night, playing at the grassy nole near my Dad's house
Puppies are so excited to see green grass!

Black and White Sunday

This week I was preoccupied with finishing a 30 page paper on the joys of health promotive environments. But, like any good mom, I still take millions of pictures of my babies, especially my furbabies.

Mom, I'm ready for my close up

A (not-so) Wordless Wednesday

This (not-so) Wordless Wednesday comes to you from my instagram account.
A few of my favorite coloured photos from the past weeks.

Daisy girl taking in some wind on the back dash board

If it isn't me and my fur babies on a beautiful Spring Day.
Loving the front seat on the way to the park.

We have renewed Caper's interest in playing fetch finding
some of his small tennis balls.

She's just a cutie.

Chalk Coloured Puppies

A few weeks ago, my sister-in-law Ashley was over with her puppy for a puppy-play date.
We sent my DH out for Blizzards, reeses peanut butter cup, and in the meanwhile, we got board.
The idea sparked that we should colour our puppies! But how!

A little while earlier I had seen Pet Grooming: The Good, the Band, and the Furry colour a puppy and she used chalk! So, I pulled out the chalk and we went all out.

Mind the terrible pictures, low light and figidity dogs = not my BFF
Caper got a green tail and a green back

Rosey had her white spots turned purple

Daisy got some some pink highlights
How did we do it?
1. Soak Chalk.
Do soak it for as long as she suggests. We only soaked for like three minutes - because we were impatient, but wait the full ten so the chalk gets all soft and easy to use!

2. Rub on dog fur.
Not as easy as it looks for the more frigidity. Daisy stayed still, Caper loathed me.

3. Spray with a light dusting of hair spray.
We didn't spray Rosey because of her sensitive skin (Boston Terrier, you know)
and she lost almost all of her colour

4. Let them run wild.
Daisy's lasted the longest.
Caper had a hint of green in her tail for a while

Black and White Sunday

I wish I could say this is one of the easiest posts of the week, but its not. I have SOOO many beautiful pictures of my babies, it's so hard. Easter was just another long weekend, so nothing themed! Well, the pics came from today and their visit to my in-laws!

Trouble Puppy

Look at this dirty face.
Sometimes I forgot that no matter how sweet Daisy is, she's still capable of trouble.
Her face looks like this when she gets into the garbage.
That hound!

Puppies & Geography & Big Brother

I'll start with Geography.
I am starting to dread the return to school. Maybe, I don't miss having to do research papers.

Currently, my block course this turn is in the study of Indigenous/First Nation Geographies and our professor has challenged us to 2 things.
1. To do something creative that represents our idea/experience of indigenous geographies.
this is so much fun, not.
I think I'm knowing what I'm doing.
I'm going to learn to Quilt something.
Stay tuned for the final project!

2. To do a research presentation on this topic of First Nation Geographies.
that's it. nothing else.
I have an idea --- Something Urban, butI don't know what I'm looking at, or for.
I don't know what my thesis is.

 NEXT!
In the process of avoiding working on these projects I bring forward some pictures of PUPPIES!
As you may already know, we got a dump of snow. After our beautiful walk at the dog park we hit up another beautiful park. However, unfortunately not enough people go to Forests for the World, and the snow was deep and horrible to walk through. We just let the puppies play in the snow before we went home

Subsequently got stuck in the snow. This required the help of some good old sturdy men! unfortunately, Ashley's is out of town, and mine was at the work! So to the Dads! Ashley's Dad came to the rescue. Now if any of you reading this are wondering what to get for her upcoming birthday, a small shovel for the car would be great! maybe a collapsable one. I'd get it, but I already have something else in mind.

Just being Beautiful

Watching for Ashley
cold wet puppy cuddle pile

FINALLY
anyone else following Big Brother Canada, what do you think?
Too early to tell?
I don't know if I ever really watch these types of shows.
Currently chilling out to Criminal Minds.

Snow Puppies

Long haired small dogs = A SNOW NIGHTMARE!
Why?

The picture speaks a thousand words. We were probably 2/3 through our walk at the dog park when I had to pick her up and carry her back. I had picked her up a few times and broken the snowballs off her belly, but alas, no avail. She had no coat on that day, but her coat wouldn't have prevented the issue.
Poor little havanese.
Her poodle brother doesn't have this problem because we cut his coat right down. :)
he just gets cold now.

So what did we do? WE WENT TO THE PET STORE!
And found her something more practical.
A PUPPY TURTLENECK SWEATER

Today we tested it out.

Verdit --- slightly better option.
But she still got snow up on the bottom half of her legs and on the far end of her belly.
They did have a long underwear style sweater... that might have been better.

I think she might have to rock her muttlucks!

Especially if we continue to have this horrible, but beautiful, wet snow. It's been like a foot of snow in the past day or so... such a surprise after spring-like weather for most of January/February

Black & White Sunday

I don't know why I'm showing off my brats today since they just got on the kitchen table and ate an entire box of cookies. It was hard to decide which pictures, I have so many. I'll go with a set from last night when Ashley and her pup Rosey came over.

Daisy doesn't play when Rosey comes to visit.
She gets a little territorial and a little 'bitchy'

They just kept moving and fitting, helps to have a friend your size

BIG SMILE!

Rosey.

Black & White Sunday 02.10

And then my favorite for last, it's a little dark, but sometimes when dogs do a pose you barely have time to catch the moment let alone change settings!

Show Off Your Dog’s Waistline Campaign

This is my Daisy girl. She's probably about 4 years old now. She's adopted from the SPCA last August. Unfortunately, we don't really know her story aside that they shaved her right down because she was badly matted.

When we took Daisy to the vet, around the same time this picture was taken, we found out that she was too slim. Thus, we have had the task of getting her to put on a little more weight to get to a better curve.   As much as this campaign is about focusing on slimming down our dogs, I want to reinforce that we need to remember to make sure they don't get too thin. The vet was concerned this might be an underlying issue. To our advantage, everything was ruled out (she was initially taken as a result of a bladder problem) and all we needed to do was increase her food intake!

Underweight dogs can be a sign of parasites, dog diabetes, poor nutrition, and other factors

Today, Daisy is slowly gaining back some weight. She's not a big dog, and we keep her weight under control by ensuring she gets her daily walks and we've moved to an all-natural raw fed diet.

The one thing I have regretted doing is going to get her dewormed as suggested by the vet. But I continue to watch her waistline, and as she has gained a little weight, everything looking good (because, let's get honest, vet appointments are tough on the wallet)

Her hair is growing out, but her waist is thickening too! Points for good nutrition!

Black& White Sunday

This week I feature not my dog, but my sister-in-law's dog, Rosie.
This is from Christmas

And to bend the rules, here's a glimpse of what I've been up to this week.
Avoiding my homework on my first week of school by playing with puppies and photobooth.

B&W Sunday

Black & White Sunday is coming early this weekend. I already sneak peaked some pics yesterday on Instagram. After a week at the boarders, our dear puppies were in a desperate need of bath time. Needless to say, nobody was impressed.

Black & White Sunday

Last night my Sorority girls came over.
Miss. Daisy was right at home.
She was the centre of attention - almost the whole night.
