Trouble Puppy
Look at this dirty face.
Sometimes I forgot that no matter how sweet Daisy is, she's still capable of trouble.
Her face looks like this when she gets into the garbage.
That hound!

Snow Puppies
Long haired small dogs = A SNOW NIGHTMARE!
Why?
The picture speaks a thousand words. We were probably 2/3 through our walk at the dog park when I had to pick her up and carry her back. I had picked her up a few times and broken the snowballs off her belly, but alas, no avail. She had no coat on that day, but her coat wouldn't have prevented the issue.
Poor little havanese.
Her poodle brother doesn't have this problem because we cut his coat right down. :)
he just gets cold now.
So what did we do? WE WENT TO THE PET STORE!
And found her something more practical.
A PUPPY TURTLENECK SWEATER
Today we tested it out.
Verdit --- slightly better option.
But she still got snow up on the bottom half of her legs and on the far end of her belly.
They did have a long underwear style sweater... that might have been better.
I think she might have to rock her muttlucks!
Especially if we continue to have this horrible, but beautiful, wet snow. It's been like a foot of snow in the past day or so... such a surprise after spring-like weather for most of January/February

Black & White Sunday
I don't know why I'm showing off my brats today since they just got on the kitchen table and ate an entire box of cookies. It was hard to decide which pictures, I have so many. I'll go with a set from last night when Ashley and her pup Rosey came over.
Daisy doesn't play when Rosey comes to visit. She gets a little territorial and a little 'bitchy'
They just kept moving and fitting, helps to have a friend your size
BIG SMILE!

Black & White Sunday 02.10
And then my favorite for last, it's a little dark, but sometimes when dogs do a pose you barely have time to catch the moment let alone change settings!

Black & White Sunday
Last night my Sorority girls came over.
Miss. Daisy was right at home.
She was the centre of attention - almost the whole night.

Christmas Photos
With Christmas now looming, Eric and I took advantage of our decorated tree/house and our nice outfits (for a friends wedding) and attempted to use our timer to take some family photos.
If only it was easy to get the dogs cooperating!

Christmas love. :)
Eric played around with our Sony Nex5R and figured out how to use the applications to hook it up to our phones so we can use our phones to set off the timer.

Christmas Puppy Outfits
In October I talked about dressing up my dogs for Halloween. I never did.
Now it's December. I've been looking for the perfect Christmas outfit for my pups.
After much searching, I found them. They are perfect. I found them at Winners.
This is how I think Caper feels about his Santa Suit.
It has a matching hat, but you try getting a dog to wear a hat! I think he hates it because it makes him too warm. He's getting his Christmas hair cut soon. It'll be good.
Daisy is super sweet in her dress. She loves wearing clothes.
Well, I'm not sure if she LOVES IT. But she definitly doesn't mind it.

Beginning to Switch to Raw food
We are switching to a Raw food diet for our puppies!
Isn't that exciting!
My dad does it with his puppies, and with Caper being super picky and angsty against the kibble, we sought a softer diet - and raw food was one of those answers.
The Bone and Biscuit Company in PG sells raw food diets. It works out to be about the same cost as what my dad pays for his raw food, and it's less than a wet food diet, but more than kibble.
I decided to start yesterday.
I attempted to feed them for breakfast.
Nobody took to it.
So now, I just finished my dinner feeding.
Daisy showed interest, and ate maybe a 1/3 of it.
Maybe I'll attempt later.
Daisy ate her bowl later.
Caper showed no interest.
This morning
Neither liked Elk.
Put back some Chicken. They ate it
Well, correction Daisy ate it.
Caper is running outside with his food.
I'm not sure what that's about.
How long can my dogs go before the cave to the delicousness of their new raw food diet. It's turkey tonight! Maybe tomorrow's menu of Elk will be better.

Black & White Sunday.2

I'm not taking part in Social Sunday today, hopefully next week! Here's some pics from my little munchkins playing with their toys. As we speak, Caper is going crazy with his squeaky plastic monkey. It's obnoxious!
The toys.
This is how daisy hangs out in her bed.
yum, let's eat my monkey's stuffing!

Daisy's Hormones
We should have taken the health insurance offer from the SPCA when we adopted Daisy.
I knew we had a problem because she was 3 years 6 months when we got her and she wasn't house trained. But I shrugged it off. There were lots of changes going on in her life.
It's been 3 months, and the accidents aren't getting better. Sometimes in the morning, sometimes during the day. Sometimes it looks like she was headed outside, but then, she just went. And, I've never seen it happen, but I THINK it's Daisy. I'm 95% sure it is.
The boarder where we take our dogs suggested that Daisy drinks WAY LOTS of water.
She suggested we take her to the vet. We trusted her.
I hummed and hawwed. And then I woke up to pee stains on my bedroom carpet and the vet was being called. Brought her in the next day.
***
She's lost a little weight. She's on the slim side the vet explains.
Oh Uh.
As a shih tzu cross she is prone to kidney failure.
Awesome.
We'll just do a blood work up to check and see whats going on.
Okay.
It could just be that she has a weak sphynctor.
Oh, and I guess you can't teach your dog to do kegels.
Or maybe she's anatomically built weird, like an extra large vagina which pools urine and it just releases.
Oh F**k. I hope not.
***
Anyways, after an anxious 8 hours, the vet finally called back with the results: NORMAL
Sweet.
But, because it might be her sphnctory hormones.
Expensive hormones because the cheaper ones she says not the safest for my dog.
Okay. I trust.
Now, twice a day hormones. And then one half a pill every week.

Airplanes ---- And Then Puppy Dog Sphinctors
The other day Single Dad Laughing posted a post about flying.
And while he might not have a preference. I do.
My favorite. Window. There isn't a doubt about it.
I don't have to pee or get up often. And I love having something to lean my head on.
If I'm flying a short haul trip without any baggage. I like to be in the front rows (or the very back if landing into an airport that deboards from both ends). I HATE waiting for people to get off the plane.
Heck, even if it's a long flight. I prefer the front.
In my opinion, I JUST WANT TO GET OFF THE PLANE AND AWAY FROM THE PEOPLE AROUND ME when we land.
The only downside is being crushed into the wall by the people beside you
And when you have to get up --- as a tall person, I ALWAYS hit my head on the light thing.
When I was flying to and from Missouri. For some reason my Dad always booked me in seat 12 or 13 A. Always. Mid plane is okay, but not awesome.
In other news, Daisy went to the Vet today.
We were concerned about her drinking so much water and because I can't seem to 100% house train her. Every now and then we find little tinkles from her around the house.
So, she had blood work and a urine analysis done.
NO PROBLEMS!
That's right. The worry was her kidneys'.
She's lost a little weight since the last visit, and as a Shih Tzu she is prone.
So, We are going to work on her sphincter because it might be weak. and that's why she makes accidents. So, tomorrow I pick up her hormone treatment.
Not quite sure.
I think I could probably be more diligent in house training.
I could probably do better.
I might be too lazy.
It's getting cold.
Finally relaxed to sit down for a few seconds before being anxious after her tests.
OH AND IT SNOWED TODAY!
That's right.
First Snow of the year/Winter.
And it stayed.
